CAD Validation & Meshing with OnScale Solve™

Meshing is a key part of any simulation to allow not only your structure to be accurately represented but to determine the accuracy of your simulated outputs. It is important to understand key areas of the model that require finer meshes to allow for stress gradients for a mechanical analysis to converge for example.

The first step before meshing though is to obtain a suitable CAD file that can be meshed and whilst that sounds simple, not all CAD files are created equally. CAD files can range in complexity in terms of numbers of parts and level of detail .This can often lead to parts overlapping and gaps between ‘mated’ parts in the assembly which will affect if it can be properly meshed.

OnScale Solve has been developed to overcome these common issues to make your life as simple as possible, allowing you to complete a full simulation without headaches.

How to generate meshes

To utilize the automatic mesh generation, simply click on the Generate Mesh button to begin the process. Our mesh algorithm will perform the analysis to create 5 different meshes ranging from Coarse to Very Fine for you to use:

The different meshes densities can be selected using the mesh slider. Additional settings are available to view the selected mesh and also, to display a range of mesh metrics with the ‘Advanced Mesh Settings’.

With all these features in place, it allows for a simple workflow enabling complex CAD geometries to be meshed and simulated with ease on the OnScale Solve platform.
